Liverpool Tate Celebrates 10 Million Visitors
After 18 years as the north’s premier gallery, Tate Liverpool welcomed its 10 millionth visitor yesterday reports Alan Weston of the Daily Post on the icLiverpool website.
Now averaging 600,000 visitors a year, the gallery first opened its doors to the public in 1988 and has been host to many major exhibitions including the Salvador Dali show that saw people queuing around the block.
Director, Christoph Grunenberg, is quoted as saying, “It’s absolutely critical that Liverpool has a thriving arts scene, and the Tate can be very proud of what it contributes to the regeneration of the city.”
