Another Sculpture Stolen
Just weeks after the theft of a major sculpture by Henry Moore, the Guardian reports a sculpture by Lynn Chadwick has gone missing from Roehampton University.
One of a set of three bronze statues - The Watchers” - was stolen on January 10. Valued at £600,000, it is feared, once again, that the piece may have been stolen for its scrap metal value.
It really is heartbreaking that such beautiful pieces of art could be lost for ever for the sake of a few pounds worth of scrap - and questions why are millions of pounds worth left unprotected - with sculpture thefts on the increase worldwide?
