Picture yourself in a boat on a river - Peter Blake at 73

Well the Guardian has done itself proud this week with some excellent pieces on Gilbert and George, Patrick Caulfield and today with Nicholas Wroe’s profile of Peter Blake.

As a leading exponent of Pop Art, Blake is probably best known by my (Sixties) generation as the man who made the Sgt Pepper album cover - for which he received £200, but that’s another story…

Blake works in various mediums, including collage, sculpture, engraving, printmaking and, of course, album covers. As a teenager in the Sixties, I have followed his work for over 40 years and he always engages and delights - and I was not surprised when he became one of the few modern artists who embraced the YBAs in the 1990s.

Great stuff - read it here
