Well known for the use of elephant dung in his pictures, Chris Ofili’s new show, the Blue Rider, features - yes you guessed it, poo again.

Centre stage at the exhibition in Berlin are two new pieces of work, his first sculptures, based on the traditional Catalan figure, the caganer. This is a small figurine of a squating peasant, doing what comes naturally, usually found in Nativity displays. Ofili created two sculptures, cast in bronze, one is a blue male, one is a silver female - both have a coil of poo beneath their squatting bottoms.

The rest of the exhibition consists of more sculpture and paintings - lots of blue paintings. Fortunately the exhibition is beautifully photographed and published on the Contemporary Fine Arts website here. Enjoy.
